Schulz: 'My goal was a bit lucky'

Here's what German debutant Nico Schulz said after he scored the matchwinning goal against Peru last night.
Hoffenheim's Nico Schulz was Germany's matchwinning hero last night as he earned Germany a 2-1 win over Peru with a late goal in his international debut.

The left-back took a shot from the edge of the penalty area that slipped under the keeper's body and slowly rolled in. After the game, he admitted the goal was a bit fortunate.

"It's great to play for the national team. My goal was a bit lucky. Before their goal, I could have knocked the ball away. That what a bit annoying," Schulz told RTL and added:

"I really liked the international match week. The boys have given me a good reception. But there's still a lot to improve on the pitch."
