SGE supervisory chairman angry with Rangnick press leaks: "Deliberate misrepresentations circulated to the media."

For the second time in a few weeks, a German Bundesliga club's flirtation with Ralf Rangnick has led to nothing more than a wave of disgruntlement.

Eintracht Frankfurt supervisory board chairman Philip Holzer expressed his dissatisfaction with "deliberate misrepresentations circulated to the media."
As Friday dawned, news the Ralf Rangnick was no longer in the running to succeed the managerial tandem of Fredi Bobic and Bruno Hübner at Eintracht Frankfurt broke. Shortly thereafter, since partially discredited rumors that the club's star striker André Silva had an exit clause in his contract that would allow him to depart this summer surfaced.

Could this be a coincidence? Possibly. Vaguely airing grievances from SGE supervisory board chairmen seem to suggest that the two stories may be linked.

"I'm irritated by the contents of the conversation [with Rangnick] that were deliberately circulated to the media afterwards and were misrepresented afterwards," Holzer told German reporters on Friday, "In particular, contents conveyed from the meeting on specific topics such as possible exit clauses and squad planning that do not correspond to the facts."

Holzer neither accused Rangnick or his agents directly of leaking information, nor did he give any specifics as to what he was referring to. It should nevertheless be obvious that he was annoyed at renewed transfer rumors concerning Silva and Filip Kostic, both of whom remain bound to the Adler through 2023. The timing of the leaks and the fact that the executive referenced the talks with Rangnick tie matters together in an, albeit, circuitous manner.

After the Silva rumors began to circulate, both "Spox" and "Goal" reported that they had received denials from Silva's representatives on the matter of the exit clause. Journalists at Germany's main sporting tabloid aren't entirely convinced of this. Sport Bild claims that Silva does not have a "traditional" exit clause. The paper further augurs that the Portuguese striker has a contractual provision that will allow him to depart and lists a transfer as "very likely."
