The proud north Hanseaten have ended their collective discussion and reached a verdict. In statements released late Monday evening, SV Werder Bremen once again confirmed its commitment to head-coach Florian Kohfeldt.

The inner workings of footballing decisions in the Bundesrepublik's historic mercantile city-state are invariably democratic. As expected, the club divulged the results of its recent conclave late on Monday evening. Florian Kohfeldt remains the head-coach.

Sporting director Frank Baumann noted that the decisive factors were "Florian's qualities as a coach, his will to tackle the task, and the absolute intact relationship between Florian, the team, and the entire staff."

Baumann's statement seemed to suggest that the endorsement was valid through the rest of the season, though pressure was certainly implicit.

"We hold Florian and the team responsible for a clear reaction in the DFB-Pokal Semi-final [on Friday]," Baumann also put on the record, "and foster a turnaround in the final three fixtures of the season."

On Sunday, both Baumann's statements and direct reports from sources close to the club suggested that the decision might break the other way. At the time Baumann took care to emphasize that SV administrators would not "be returning to business as usual."

After their seventh consecutive league defeat on Saturday, the Hanseaten remain in real danger of relegation. The Weser sit just one point above the relegation playoff place.
