Chandler speaks on contract negotiations: "For me, there is only Eintracht"

Eighteen months after returning from a potentially career-ending interest, USMNT veteran Timothy Chandler's contract with his hometown club is nebulously uncertain. After rediscovering new life last January at, of all things, an attacking position, it seemed as if the German Eagles and the man who first started playing in their youth academy twenty years ago would never be parted.

Unfortunately, SGE trainer Adi Hütter seemed to go out of his way not to use Chandler during the initial stages of this season. Rumors began to surface that the club didn't want to trigger an automatic renewal clause in the player's contract.
Though these reports were never corroborated, such a clause would explain why Chandler has suddenly made six consecutive appearances at the tail end of the season, when it might be arithmetically impossible for him to attain the appearance threshold.
Chadler has scored a goal in one of his relief appearances, but looked noticeably unfit in his first actual start of the campaign in week 29. The official word on Chandler's contract is that he's set to receive a paycheck from the country's commercial capital club through 2022.
Obviously, some negotiations are taking place; possibly ones that address the club's overt efforts to avoid the extension clause. Chandler confirmed that the two sides were taking in recent statements, even hinting that he and the club might be talking about something other than playing on the pitch.
"For me there is only Eintracht and die Adler," Chandler said in a recent interview, "I want to stay to the end. I'm certain that I'll finish my career here and I want to work in Frankfurt beyond my active playing career. We're already in talks and maybe we'll get it done by the end of the season."
