Alex Nübel linked with loan switch to Union

Union Berlin are said to have joined the race for Bayern München's second-choice goalkeeper, Alexander Nübel.
Union Berlin have emerged as suitors for Bayern München goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, according to Bild.

Per the German newspaper, the German capital club have opened talks over a deal to sign the 24-year-old on a two-year loan deal.

Update: The rumor has been shot down by Nübel's agent, Stefan Backs, who insists there have been no talks with Union.

Meanwhile, according to Abendzeitung, Nübel wants to hold talks with new Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann before making a decision on his future.

The Munich-based newspaper further reports that Monaco is a more likely destination for Nübel since he wants to play European football next season.

The former Schalke 04 goalkeeper has also been linked with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig among others.

Nübel has previously made it clear through his agent that he's not happy with his playing time at Bayern.

In his first season at Allianz Arena, he has been limited to just three appearances.
