Aogo accepts Lehmann's apology, expresses desire to move on

Former German national team defender Dennis Aogo made his second blanket statement to the media late Wednesday evening.

For the second time in 24 hours, Aogo noted that he accepted the apology of fellow former national team member Jens Lehmann and noted he didn't wish to comment further.
Late on Wednesday evening, Dennis Aogo revealed that he had spoken to his former footballing and broadcasting colleague Jens Lehmann not once, but twice on the phone following a racial missive inadvertently sent to him late Tuesday evening.

"I wanted to comment briefly on the incident," Aogo told journalists in a wide-release video message on Wednesday evening, "I accept his apology."

Aogo himself still defended the decision to go public with the WhatsApp message the former national team keeper sent him on Tuesday evening.

"I didn't think that the wording was appropriate," Aogo continued, "I find it disrespectful because you shouldn't write something like that, irrespective of whom you're addressing."

Aogo's closing words seemed to suggest that he felt the consequences Lehmann suffered were sufficient enough and that, on a personal level, he felt ready to move on.

"Everybody makes mistakes," Aogo noted, "I took it from him that he was sorry and I'm finished with this topic. I'll certainly meet with him sometime in the near future and then get the subject out of the way promptly, like two men do."
