Report: Lazio target former Bayern defender

Italian side SS Lazio are said to be interested in signing former Bayern Munich defender and World Cup winner Jerome Boateng.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who works for Calciomercato, reported that Lazio are interested in reinforcing their defence with the addition of Jerome Boateng. However, the journalist also reports that they are putting all transfer targets behind them as they look to hire their next manager, who is said to be former Chelsea and Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri.

Earlier this week, Tuttomercatoweb suggested that Lazio and Boateng were in advanced talks, with the Italian media outlet saying the discussions were "in their final hours" and a deal for the World Cup winner could be in place soon.

Boateng becomes a free agent when his contract with Bayern Munich expires next month, and he leaves the Bavarian giants as a serial winner with plenty of accolades to take with him to his next destination.
