Tuchel: Bayern proposal came too late

Thomas Tuchel says Bayern München were interested in him, but at that time, he had already decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.
Back in May, it was officially announced that Thomas Tuchel would take over as the coach of Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, the German coach reveals that Bayern München also contacted him, but that he had already accepted PSG's offer at that point.

"There was contact with Bayern, but their proposal arrived too late. I had already decided to join PSG," Tuchel told L'Equipe and continued:

"My decision after Dortmund was very clear. If I would be lucky enough to be offered an experience abroad, I would pursue it. That was clear to my family, my staff and myself. Of course, Paris is special. It was a pleasant surprise."

At the end of March, Bayern München CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said Tuchel had rejected an offer from Bayern.

"In his function as director of sports, Hasan Salihamidzic was involved in many talks, among others also with Thomas Tuchel," Rummenigge told Sky and added:

"Thomas Tuchel announced that he signed with another club. That is okay."

During April, Bayern München announced that Niko Kovac would take over as head coach at Säbener Straße instead.
