Hansi Flick lauds Müller's legacy: "There will never be anyone like him"

Thomas Müller’s Bayern Munich and Germany legacy puts him among the list of the club and country’s greatest ever players – being the most decorated German player in history with 29 titles.
Ex-Bayern manager Hansi Flick has provided his thoughts on the 31-year-old legendary attacking midfielder who joined Bayern in 2000 aged just 10, and is not showing any signs of stopping anytime soon.

There is no other player who comes close to Müller when analyzing and exploiting spaces, according to the German manager.

In an exclusive to 51, Bayern’s magazine for the club’s almost 300,000 members, Flick said: "Thomas doesn't always do everything right in the game, but he gives you a lot more to be excited about than not.”

The sextuple-winning manager added it not always easy to grasp what the unpredictable attacker’s move is going to be next: "There are times when he goes out to the corner, where he shouldn't be, loses the ball and a counter-attack comes out of it. I almost had to laugh and had the feeling that he was doing it on purpose, to annoy me a bit and to get the adrenaline pumping again.

"You can't always grasp his playing style, but you can't quantify what he brings to the team and the club either. He's always positive, has the energy levels of an 18-year-old and spurs on all the players.”

There will never be anyone like him, according to the 2014 World Cup wining assistant manager.

"You can only take your hat off to what he has achieved in his career - it's unique. There will never be anyone like him. He always gives everything. What’s more, he’s down to earth and a really good guy,” he said.

Müller has played out his professional life entirely in Bavaria, making 616 appearances and scoring 230 goals so far.
