Olympique Marseille and Stade Rennes have joined the race for Schalke 04 midfielder Suat Serdar, according to Bild.

Bayer Leverkusen, Hertha BSC and Eintracht Frankfurt have previously been linked with the 24-year-old.

Rumors have circulated that Schalke could allow Serdar to leave on a free transfer to get him off their wage bill after dropping out of Germany's top flight.

Serdar, who has featured four times for the German national team, is under contract until 2022.
