Germany's best Euro 2020 Fantasy players and predicted line-up for the opener against France
We take a look at the best German Euro 2020 Fantasy players and predict Joachim Löw's line-up for his side's opener against France.
With the European Championships just around the corner, many Fantasy Football enthusiasts are fiddling with their Euro 2020 Fantasy teams.
In this article, we delve into the German players that are worth considering from a Fantasy perspective and take a look at the team 'Die Mannschaft' coach Joachim Löw could field for his side's opener against France on 15 June.
Fantasy picks:
Looking at the defenders, Robin Gosens (€5 million) is arguably the most attractive Fantasy pick. Gosens is coming off a very impressive 2020/21 season with Atalanta that saw him score 12 goals and make eight assists in 44 games across all competitions. The 26-year-old started at the left-wing back position in both of Germany's warm-up friendlies and most recently scored a set up a goal in the 7-1 victory over Latvia, so he should be in line for a starting spot against France. Owned by just 1% of Fantasy managers and priced at €5 million, he's an affordable differential.
Moving up to the midfield, Joshua Kimmich (€6 million) is an intriguing option, especially at his price. Despite playing as a number six, the 26-year-old regularly chips in with goals and assists for Bayern. Kimmich was most recently used as a wing-back against Latvia, venturing into more attacking positions, and Löw has refused to rule out that the Bayern star could stay in that position. In any case, Kimmich is a solid Fantasy pick, not least because of his set pieces.
Chelsea star Kai Havertz (Midfielder, €9m) is heading into the Euros full of confidence after scoring the winner in the Champions League final. That was clear in Monday's friendly win over Latvia, which saw the 21-year-old set up a goal and score before he was taken off at half-time.
Last but not least, Serge Gnabry (Midfielder, €9.5m) has emerged as one of the first names on the team sheet under Joachim Löw, and it's easy to see why. In just 21 games for 'Die Mannschaft', Gnabry has found the net 16 times. Despite being listed as a midfielder in the game, the 25-year-old Bayern München winger is likely to start up front, which makes him even more attractive from a Fantasy perspective.
Predicted line-up:
Joachim Löw has altered between a back three and four since Germany's embarrassing group-stage exit at the World Cup three years ago.
Leon Goretzka is highly unlikely to feature against France, but Löw should otherwise have a full squad to pick from.
Since the 61-year-old fielded a 3-4-3 in both of his side's warm-up friendlies, it's likely that he will stick with that system against France.
