Kicker Report: Beierlorzer set to return to the sidelines as assistant in Leipzig
German footballing magazine Kicker reports that former 1. FC Köln and FSV Mainz 05 trainer Achim Beierlorzer is set to return to the sidelines as an assistant coach under incoming RB Leipzig gaffer Jesse Marsch.

Beierlorzer, a former Leipzig interim trainer, was once considered a rather hot coaching commodity in the Bundesrepublick after he served under RB gaffer Ralf Rangnick and put together a successful head-coaching stint at Jahn Regensburg and was selected by 1. FC Köln to lead die Geißböcke during their first year back in the German top flight.
He lasted just 11 fixtures in the cathedral city during the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign. Then Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder immediately snatched him up after the November 2019 dismissal. Although Beierlorzer managed to steer the Pfälzer clear of relegation, there were several notable public dust-ups with the FSV players.
Kicker journalist Benni Hofman reports that the dissolution of the current Mainz contract should be completed in the coming days.
