With the implementation of the three-at-the-back system that he has used at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig in the past, Nagelsmann wants to make Bayern more tactically flexible and defensively sound, according to Sport Bild.
Switching to a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 could see French internationals Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard deployed in the middle rather than at full-back while Serge Gnabry could be utilized as a wing-back, per the report.
Bayern have played with a 4-2-3-1 during the last 18 months under Hansi Flick, who will be succeeding Joachim Löw as Germany coach after the Euros.
With the current squad, this is how Bayern could potentially line up in a 3-4-3 formation, according to Sport Bild:
Manuel Neuer
Benjamin Pavard
Dayot Upamecano
Lucas Hernandez
Serge Gnabry
Joshua Kimmich
Leon Goretzka
Alphonso Davies
Leroy Sané
Robert Lewandowski
Thomas Müller
