Report: Three Bundesliga clubs seek to snatch up Ünder

A disappointing club campaign and European Championship may lead to a change of scenery for 23-year-old Turkish international Cengiz Ünder.

Once scouted by Bayern, the latest news out of Italy has the AS Roma being sought on the cheap by three Bundesliga clubs.
After a frustrating loan spell at Leicester City, Cengiz Ünder is due back in the Italian capital to presumably try and make a fresh start under new trainer Jose Mourinho at AS Roma. Ünder certainly fulfilled his dream of playing in the English Premiership, but will surely be displeased with logging negligible minutes over 19 (mostly relief) appearances.

Ünder's market value has dropped from an estimated €35 million in 2018 to €20 million in the latest transfermarkt listings. Hopes were high that some signs of sparkle at this summer's European Championship might help resurrect his career.

A right-wing attacker by trade, Ünder can be dangerous on both flanks. Turkish trainer Senol Günes tried him on both sides in two starts and a relief appearance during the group stage, but the player was unable to factor in.

Italy's Gazetta dello Sport, three Bundesliga clubs are now interested in procuring Ünder at what might be considered a bargain price. Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig have all expressed interest in a transfer for a fee of around €15 million.

Three productive seasons in the Serie A between 2017 and 2020 saw Ünder rack up 17 goals for La Lupa. Since popping up on the Bayern radar some three years ago, Ünder has been linked with the Bundesliga on more than one occasion.
