Hasan Salihmidzic has confirmed that Bayern München were tracking Ridle Baku last year.
Bayern München board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that the German champions were keeping tabs on Ridle Baku prior to the 23-year-old's move from Mainz to Wolfsburg last summer.
Asked by Kicker if he regrets not signing Baku, who scored six goals and made nine assists in 38 games for Wolfsburg last season, Salihamidzic responded:
"We had him on our radar, and he certainly had a good year in Wolfsburg."
The 44-year-old would neither confirm or deny reports that Bayern wish to sign a new right-back this summer.
"The market is calm at the moment," said Salihamidzic.
"With Benjamin Pavard, we have one of the most stable right-backs around. Nevertheless, we'll observe the situation on the market closely until the window closes."
