Leon Goretzka says it will be 'special' for him to return to Gelsenkirchen and face his former club Schalke 04 as a Bayern München player on Saturday.

Leon Goretzka and Bayern München will travel to Gelsenkirchen to face his former club as Schalke 04 await at the Veltins-Arena on Saturday.

It's the first time Goretzka visits the Veltins-Arena as a Bayern player, and he is prepared that not all Schalke fans may give him a warm welcome.

"Certainly, this is a special game for me. Personally, I'm just looking forward to coming back to Gelsenkirchen and seeing the old boys again," Goretzka told Kicker and continued:

"There are two camps. Some people wish me all the best and understand my transfer a bit while others express their displeasure."

When Bayern München won 2-0 against Benfica on Tuesday, Renato Sanches was applauded by the fans of his former club despite scoring against them. Goretzka doubts that something similar will happen for him on Saturday.

"I don't think it will be quite like it was for Renato," the midfielder said.

Schalke 04 and Bayern München will clash this Saturday at 18.30 (UTC+2).
