Ralf Fährmann will be Schalke 04's first-choice goalkeeper for the 2021/22 season, according to Bild.

The German tabloid claims that Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis has selected the 32-year-old as his number one ahead of Markus Schubert.

Accordingly, Schubert could leave the crisis-hit Gelsenkirchen club, who are looking to cut down their expenses after getting relegated to the 2. Bundesliga.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt without making a single appearance. His Schalke contract expires in 2023.

Fährmann, on the other hand, featured 25 times for Schalke last season. He is under contract until 2023 as well.
