Jonathan Tah has been linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen in the past months, but a transfer is off the table at the moment, according to Sport Bild.
"My focus is fully on our team and what the coach demands," said the centre-back in an interview with the German magazine.
Following the retirement of Lars and Sven Bender and with Edmond Tapsoba ruled out for months through injury, new Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane is counting on the 25-year-old, who has 216 appearances for 'Die Werkself' under his belt.
"Jonathan has a great past here. He's an international player. He is ambitious. He is held in high regard by his teammates. We expect him to take the next step personality wise," said Seoane.
"He's leading the way in training. He's a good kid. He has to help fill this space that the Benders left behind," added the coach, who is even considering giving the 25-year-old the captain's armband, according to Sport Bild.
Tah has two years left on his contract with Leverkusen.
