Reports: Leverkusen tender €18 million offer for Sardar Azmoun
Difficult as it my be to fathom, Bayer 04 Leverkusen are being linked with another big money transfer.
Evidently, Germany's red company team have decided that now is as good a time as ever to spend the cash surplus they earned from last autumn's sale of Kai Havertz. Days after spending big to acquire Mitchel Bakker and digging even deeper to procure Odilon Kossounou, die Werkself reportedly have an €18 million offer on the table for Zenit St. Petersburg's Sardar Azmoun.
The man commonly referred to--not entirely logically--as the "Iranian Lionel Messi" has finally lived up to his potential in recent years. Since moving to Zenit after the 2018 World Cup, Azmoun has scored 54 goals in 85 appearances across all competitions over the past three seasons. The 26-year-old now has a market value of €25 million.
If Italy's top two transfer experts--Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca di Marzio--are to be believed, the state of negotiations are already quite advanced. Romano notes that Bayer have a concrete offer of €18 million on the table. Competitors AS Roma are offering players in exchange.
Bayer's combined outlays for Bakker and Kossounou are estimated to have exceeded €30 million.
