The rumor mills have been quiet since a report surfacing in Italian media linked Jerome Boateng with a possible move to AS Roma on July 6th. According to German broadcaster Sport1, the reason for this is the 32-year-old's desire to still play for a European Champions' League club.

It is rumored that Boateng turned down an offer to play in Qatar and that negotiations with AC Fiorentina and Lazio Rome also failed. Transfermarkt's German website claims a report from Sport1 that Boateng parted company with his representation firm recently is true. TM notes that the youngest Boateng brother is being represented by "an old friend from Berlin".

A move to Sevilla F.C. would make sense from Boateng's perspective. The club will participate in the 2021/22 UCL after finishing fourth in the Spanish Primera last season. Moreover, the most successful Europa League club ever may find themselves in need of veteran defensive assistance if, as has been rumored, Jules Koundé is on his way to the English Premiership.

As of late Monday evening, none of the other major German football media sources chose to corroborate the Boateng rumor yet.
