New Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane hails 'impressive' Florian Wirtz

Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane has described Florian Wirtz as the most complete 18-year-old he has ever seen.
New Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane has waxed lyrical about Florian Wirtz ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Asked by Sport Bild if he has ever seen an 18-year-old as complete as the young Leverkusen midfielder, Seoane responded:

"No, personally never. Florian has speed, technical quality, intelligence, is courageous on the pitch and plays with a naturalness that is very, very rare at this age. That's all very impressive."

Yet Seaone still sees room for improvement for Wirtz, who has featured a total of 47 times for Leverkusen, scoring nine goals and making eight assists.

"The opponents know him now and adjust to him better. Accordingly, he needs to get better and maybe change a few things. He also has to become stronger personality wise, which is logically always part of the development of a young player," said Seaone.

"With Florian, it's also the case that he could probably become one of the dominant players on the national team in the coming years. We need to support him in developing the strength to take on big responsibilities."
