Report: Hertha's Luca Netz nears transfer to Gladbach

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that young Hertha left-back Luca Netz is on the verge of a transfer to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
In what should be a record-breaking transfer between two Bundesliga clubs for an 18-year-old, Luca Netz of Hertha BSC is set to move to Gladbach fort a transfer fee of €4 million. Germany's "Bild Zeitung" reports that talks have been underway for weeks and that the deal will be confirmed today. Broadcaster Sport 1 also confirms the imminent transfer.

Between two metatarsal fractures last season, Netz made 11 appearances for "die alte Dame" last season and scored his maiden Bundesliga goal in round 21 of the 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign. The departure comes as something as a surprise given how much effort the capital city club put into getting his contract extended last winter.

It nevertheless appears as if Netz could find more immediate prospects stepping in for the injured Ramy Bensebaini at the left fullback position in Gladbach. Netz can also play further up on the wing.
