Jamal Musiala: 'I want to be an important part of the team under Julian Nagelsmann'

Jamal Musiala is eager to assert himself under new Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann.
FC Bayern München youngster Jamal Musiala has spoken to Sport Bild about his expectations for the upcoming season.

After his breakthrough 2020/21 campaign, Musiala is eager to continue his excellent development under new Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann.

"I want to be an important part of the team under Julian Nagelsmann," said Musiala, who was part of the Germany squad that crashed out of the Euros at the hands of England in the round of 16.

"The coach wrote me a very nice and motivating message after the elimination against England, which made me very happy," added Musiala.

One of the 18-year-old's advantages is his ability to play in several different positions.

"Everyone knows that I'm very comfortable in attacking midfield because that's where I have the game in front of me. But I also like to come down the wings and take defenders on in one-on-one situations. I love to dribble and score goals," said Musiala.

"At Chelsea, I played as a nine or secondary striker for a long time, and I also played as a number eight a few times last season. The most important thing for me is to get game practice, as many minutes on the pitch as possible, to develop!"

So far, Musiala has made 38 appearances for Bayern, scoring seven goals and making one assist.
