SC Freiburg are poised to complete a deal to sign Maximilian Eggestein from Werder Bremen, according to Kicker.
The 24-year-old central midfielder will be brought in as a direct replacement for Baptiste Santamaria, who has left Freiburg to join Rennes for a reported €14 million.
Eggestein has been heavily linked with a move away from Werder since the club dropped out of the Bundesliga last season.
He has featured in all of Werder's four games this season, scoring once. In total, he has played 181 times for 'The Green-Whites', racking up 14 goals and 21 assists.
