In the ongoing negotiations between AC Milan and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the sale of midfielder Florian Grillitsch, Germany's Kraichgauer have reportedly rejected the Serie A club's opening bid for the player.

Germany's pre-eminent footballing publication reports that Milan tendered an initial offer in the low single digits. Hoffenheim holds out for a transfer fee closer to the 26-year-old's estimated €18 million market value.

A transfer for Grillitsch remains likely as the Austrian sits on an expiring contract and has expressed the desire to leave. Kicker speculates that the two clubs may eventually meet in the middle, settling on a transfer sum of between €12 and €15 million.

Kicker also reports that the player is "emotionally invested" in a move to further his career.
