Official: Schalke pocket loan fee and secure purchase obligation on Kabak loan to Norwich

Ozan Kabak officially became the the third Bundesliga player to switch to newly promoted EPL side Norwich City on Monday evening.

Schalke 04 sporting director spoke of an "economically good package" as details of the loan-deal were revealed.
Details of the loan deal that will send Ozan Kabak to Carrow Road were revealed on Monday evening. Germany's Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung, Germany's Königsblauen will pocket a €4 million loan fee immediately.

The season-long-loan that sends Kabak back to the Premiership also contains a purchase clause in the amount of some €13 million. The German paper notes that the buyout clause could become compulsory under certain circumstances.

As is often the case with promoted clubs, one can assume that the Canaries will be on the hook if they manage to avoid relegation.

"Under present conditions, the loan package, including the possibilities for a long-term commitment, is an economically good package for us," S04 sporting director Rouven Schröder said in a statement, "Ozan, in turn, can once again prove himself in England and prove his potential. We wish him all the best in the coming season."

A cumulative total of €17 million in potential inlays does constitute a good deal for Schalke. Kabak joins Josh Sargent and Milot Rashica from the Bundesliga's other 2020/21 relegated club, SV Werder Bremen, in joining the canaries this summer.
