18-year-old Jadon Sancho has been rewarded for his great start to the season at Borussia Dortmund by being called up to the English national team for the first time.
England coach Gareth Southgate today named Sancho in the squad for this month's UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Spain. He also called up Leicester's James Maddison and Derby's Mason Mount, who is on loan from Chelsea, for the first time.
"They're exciting young players and it's a great opportunity for us to look at them," Southgate said at a press conference and added:
"With young players, you never know what they're capable of until you give them their opportunity. It may be a bit early for them, but they're having big impacts in important matches."
England will face Croatia in Rijeka on October 12 before a clash with Spain await on October 15.
