Report:
Krasnodar boss says Russian club only paid Hertha €10.2 million for Cordoba

According to FK Krasnodar sporting director Vladimir Khasig, one of the summer's record-braking transfer deals may not have been so sensational after all.

If the Russian executive is to be believed, Jhon Cordoba was not the second most expensive sale in Hertha BSC's history.

Hertha BSC were widely thought to have pocketed €20 million from the sale of Colombian striker Johnson Cordoba. This figure was corroborated by multiple sources. The sporting director of Russian club FK Krasnodar nevertheless insists that this number is false.

"Where did the media get the information that our club spent so much on Cordoba?" Vladimir Khasig rhetorically asked himself when speaking to members of the assembled press corps on Friday, "I'll tell you officially that we acquired Cordoba for only €10.5 million, plus some small bonuses if the club did well in European competitions."

Khasig also refuted reports on other specific transfer dealings during his Friday press round. The general aim of the personnel boss' statements appeared to be downplaying the perception of the privately-backed Russian club as one that had endlessly deep pockets.

Khasig also noted that some of the club's sales were underreported, specifically that of Swedish midfielder Kristoffer Olsson. The Kransnodar boss averted that he sold the player for twice as much as was reported in the press.

If Khasig is to be believed, Hertha did not earn money on the quick flip of one of it's more talented strikers at all. Moreover, one can shave a significant amount off of the German club's estimated summer transfer balance; perhaps the only true success new sporting CEO Fredi Bobic was able to accomplish.
