Marsch wary of Manchester City strength: 'The toughest game is the first one in Manchester'

Jesse Marsch believes Wednesday's game against Manchester City will be RB Leipzig's toughest game of the Champions League group stages.
RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch knows it will be difficult to advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League, with last season's finalists Manchester City and semi-finalists Paris Saint-Germain in the German side's group along with Club Brugge.

"It should never be easy in the Champions League. That wouldn't be appropriate for the competition. PSG and Man City are certainly among the best teams in the world at the moment, if they are not the two best sides. That means the task will be very difficult," Marsch told Kicker.

"But we have to make sure we're fired up for these big games and that we're ready for these challenges. We have to enjoy ourselves and play to our limit. But above all, we must not be afraid," added the Leipzig coach before looking ahead to Wednesday's opener against Manchester City.

"I have to say that the toughest game is the first one in Manchester. City are perhaps a more homogeneous team than PSG, and I had hoped that we would face them later on because we are still in the middle of a process here."

RB Leipzig have had a rough start to the season, losing three of their first four Bundesliga games under Marsch.
