Official: Leon Goretzka extends contract through 2026

After talks that dragged on for some time, FC Bayern München and Leon Goretzka announced Monday evening that the midfielder had signed a contract extension.
If all goes according to plan, Leon Goretzka should be kicking for the German record champions through the end of the 2025/26 campaign. Following intermittent talks over the summer, the last report held that agreement had been reached some two weeks ago. Now it is official.

Bayern now have their preferred midfield duo in place long-term after Goretzka's partner Joshua Kimmich also signed an extension on August 23rd. Goretzka has scored 25 goals and bagged 27 assists in 117 competitive appearances since joining the FCB from Schalke in 2018.

With Goretzka and Kimmich sewn up, the two remaining Bayern players on expiring contracts are defender Niklas Süle and midfielder Corentin Tolisso.
