Reports: Man City's Ortega earns Germany call-up

Sky Germany and Germany's "Sport Bild" Tabloid are both currently reporting that Manchester City keeper Stefan Ortega Moreno is set to earn a German national team audition over the coming international break.

Two reliable German footballing media sources are currently reporting that Man City's Stefan Ortega Moreno will be part of Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann's German national team squad for the upcoming November international break. According to both sources, the 32-year-old will take third-choice keeper Janis Blaswich's spot.

Bundestrainer Nagelsmann continues to lend keepers an audition following Marc André ter Stegen's injury. Moreno's Premiership colleague Bernd Leno controversially declined a call-up during the October international break. Stuttgart starter Alexander Nübel and Hoffenheim captain Oliver Baumann were both given a chance in net.

Moreno spent 11 seasons playing in German football for 1860 München and DSC Arminia Bielefeld. After what was, for him, a highly emotional relegation campaign with Bielefeld during the 2021/22 season, the Hessen-native moved to Man City on a free. He's served as a back-up over the last three seasons.
