Sané responds to Germany selection doubts after Galatasaray move

Leroy Sané is confident he can secure a place in Germany’s World Cup squad after moving to Galatasaray from Bayern Munich.

After joining Galatasaray on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, Leroy Sané has reflected on whether the move might affect his chances of making Germany’s World Cup squad next year.

“I can understand the discussion to some extent, but it’s better to just wait and see,” Sané told Kicker.

“I’ve moved to be the clear number one in Turkey, and I definitely want to take on an absolute leadership role here. We’re definitely playing in the Champions League and have ambitious goals there. So there will be plenty of opportunities for me to perform at a high level.”

The 29-year-old is naturally keen to maintain regular communication with Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“I’ve always really appreciated that, and I’m sure it will remain the case. But now, it’s mainly up to me. I have to deliver strong performances and definitely want to be part of the 2026 World Cup.”
