Sport Bild Report: Frankfurt maintain interest in acquiring Amiri

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Eintracht Frankfurt remain amenable to the idea of signing current FSV Mainz 05 midfielder Nadiem Amiri.

Former Bayer 04 Leverkusen and German national team midfielder Nadiem Amiri - prior to competing his move to current club FSV Mainz 05 during the recent January transfer window - was also linked with moves to other clubs, including Eintracht Frankfurt. Germany's "Sport Bild" tabloid reports that the SGE remain interested in picking 27-year-old attacking midfielder. Amiri would presumably be interested in another switch should Mainz get relegated.

Given that Amiri has found success with the Rheinhessen, it would prove doubtful that Ludwigshafen-native would wish to switch clubs if Mainz can remain in the league. After back-to-back wins in the Bundesliga, Bo Henriksen's side are threatening to climb out of the relegation playoff place. The Nullfünter are now in a position to potentially overtake three clubs - VfL Bochum, VfL Bochum, and 1. FC Union Berlin - with a win against Freiburg next weekend.

Following his prolonged (and ultimately nixed) transfer saga with Leeds United over the summer, however, Amiri's professional inclinations can be difficult to read. The five-times-capped German international relies upon his family for professional representation. Frankfurt find themselves both in the market for a more effective attacking midfielder and (in lieu of Ellyes Skhiri's recent injury problems) a player capable of playing as a deep six.
