Löw on Wagner: He makes his colleagues look like idiots

Joachim Löw has launched an attack on Sandro Wagner.
German national coach takes a swipe at Bayern München striker Sandro Wagner after his recent comments.

Wagner announced his international retirement after being left out of Germany's World Cup squad, saying that he doesn't think that he fits in because of his honesty and directness. Löw now says that he considers Wagner's comments as an attack on the rest of the squad.

"I consider it as criticism of his colleagues who also play. He portrays players, who have played for us for a long time and who are among the leading players, as if they were complete idiots. As if they are only with us, because they don't say what they feel," Löw tells Bild.

"I obviously understand why he's disappointed. But I think his reaction is a little over the top. Everyone, who are familiar with us, knows that we always encourage the players say how their feel openly and honestly and to be critical. These things are very important to us," he adds.
