Fabian Reese helped VfL Wolfsburg to their third successive home win as Tobias Strobl’s side beat Osnabrück 2-0. The in-form attacker scored the opening goal from outside of the box before providing a brilliant assist to Muhammed Damar's goal after the break.
With Kaiserslautern losing at home to league leaders Hertha BSC and Nürnberg facing St. Pauli on Sunday, the result lifted the promotion hopefuls to second place. The league's top scorers will now face Hertha away from home before the international break where Reese will expect a hostile atmosphere at his former club.
Wolfsburg are winless in their last four away matches in all competitions. Meanwhile, this is the third successive defeat on their travels for the newly-promoted Osnabrück. Timo Schulz's men will host fourth-placed Kaiserslautern on matchday 11.
