MÜNCHEN (Bulinews): Ahead of FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund's clash tomorrow, Philipp Lahm reflected on some of his career highs and lows from his experiences of Der Klassiker.

"Around 2011 and 2012, that is my worst recollection [of playing against Dortmund]," the former Bayern captain said during a media round at the club's Säbener Straße training ground attended by Bulinews.com.

"We were playing away in Dortmund four games before the end of the season [in 2012]," Lahm explained, with the two rivals separated by just three points going into their hotly-anticipated Matchday 29 meeting.

"We played quite well but then we had the missed penalty [by Arjen Robben and lost 1-0]. And that's why the championship was lost. We also lost the DFB-Pokal final 5-2 [to BVB], that was not good either.

"But I also have some really good memories of [successful DFB-Pokal] cup finals against Dortmund as well. Of course the Champions League final [Bayern won 2-1 against Dortmund] in 2013 as well.

"After the time when we didn't manage to become German champions in 2011 and 2012 [losing to Dortmund in both], we managed to win the 2013 DFB Supercup in Dortmund [at the Signal Iduna Park].

"This was so important for our self-awareness ahead of the coming season. Because before this, Dortmund became Bundesliga champions and the cup final that we lost 5-2," Lahm concluded.

The versatile full-back – who made over 517 appearances for the Bavarians – remained tight-lipped on what he expects to happen this Saturday. However, one would naturally expect him to be rooting for his boys in Red.
