In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we’ll highlight 10 players to consider adding to your team ahead of Matchday 9.
As a rule of thumb, we'll try to steer clear of the most obvious picks, instead focusing mainly on players who could offer great value as differentials.
Koki Machida, Hoffenheim (Defender, 4.1M, 5%)
Coming up against a Schalke side who have managed just four Bundesliga goals this season, Machida offers solid clean-sheet potential at a budget-friendly price.
Miro Muheim, Hamburger SV (Defender, 9.95M, 8%)
Operating out of position in central midfield, Muheim has already shown his explosive potential this season, racking up 315 points against Hoffenheim and 289 against VfB Stuttgart. With HSV hosting bottom-placed Gladbach, the 28-year-old looks like an intriguing differential for Friday night's fixture.
Nathaniel Brown, FC Bayern (Defender, 14.85M, 9%)
After coming off the bench against both Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, Brown looks set to return to the starting XI against Bayern this weekend, with the German champions expected to rotate their squad amid a packed fixture schedule. The German international could even feature in a more advanced role on the left wing.
Albert Grønbæk, Hamburger SV (Midfielder, 6.99M, 1%)
Although Hamburger SV lost 3-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt last week, Grønbæk still managed to pick up a respectable 122 points. The Danish international operates in a very advanced role – almost as a striker – and with HSV now facing a much more favourable home fixture against a Gladbach side yet to win away from home this season, he's an interesting midfield option at a relatively low price.
Can Uzun, Eintracht Frankfurt (Midfielder, 15.94M, 2%)
Following criticism from head coach Adi Hütter over his mentality and two consecutive starts on the bench, Uzun has worked his way back into the Eintracht line-up and really delivered. He was arguably their standout performer against HSV last weekend and could be influential once more against newly-promoted Paderborn.
Lennart Karl, FC Bayern (Midfielder, 16.34M, 2%)
After coming under criticism for his early-season performances, Karl responded in style with a crucial goal in Bayern's 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. With Bayern dealing with a lengthy injury list in attack, the 18-year-old looks set to retain his place in the No. 10 role against Mainz, offering an opportunity to build on his impressive mid-week performance.
Konstantinos Karetsas, Borussia Dortmund (Midfielder, 15.18M, 4%)
The Greek youngster gave Dortmund a real boost off the bench in their 2-1 win over Real Betis on Wednesday, scoring the winner. After that performance, you'd expect Karetsas to start this weekend's favourable fixture against Elversberg, but be aware that his minutes could still be managed following his recent injury spell.
Fabio Silva, Borussia Dortmund (Striker, 9.52M, 1%)
Silva built on his goal against Bayern Munich by scoring and providing an assist against Real Betis in the Champions League on Wednesday. Since Serhou Guirassy picked up a knock in that game, the striker even looks likely to play as the front man at home against newly-promoted Elversberg.
Fisnik Asllani, Hoffenheim (Striker, 12.63M, 1%)
Asllani appears to be the most likely starter in Hoffenheim's attack as Christian Ilzer's side look to pick up three much-needed points against struggling Schalke 04 this weekend. The 24-year-old is still working his way back to his best after a spell on the sidelines, but is certainly capable of making a difference, as he showed last season with 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
Igor Matanovic, Freiburg (Striker, 16.59M, 14%)
Union Berlin have conceded heavily in several away fixtures this season, suffering defeats to Leverkusen (4-0), Bayern (7-0) and Köln (5-0). Matanovic will be hoping to exploit the defensive frailties the capital club have shown this season and add to his tally of four Bundesliga goals at the weekend.
