Report: Augsburg preparing to return Dorsch back to Belgium
FC Augsburg are reportedly preparing to send German youth international Niklas Dorsch back to Belgium. The 26-year-old has spent the last three seasons in his native country after joining the Fuggerstädter on a €7 million transfer from KAA Gent ahead of the 2021/22 season. After an impressive enough FCA campaign in which he scored a memorable goal against Köln, however, Dorsch's role with Augsburg has steadily declined.
A pre-season injury just prior to the 2022/23 season further diminished his playing prospects. Dorsch made only 11 league appearances that year. Last season, he featured 21 times in the league for the Bavarian Swabians. The midfielder has nevertheless failed to get his name on a Bundesliga scoresheet since scoring the goal against Köln in November of 2021.To date, he's scored just one goal (league) and registered just one assist (cup) for his German club.
German transfer guru Florian Plettenberg reports that Augsburg are set to begin negotiations with RSC Anderlecht over a season long loan-out. The player himself has already agreed to terms with the Belgian Pro League side. Dorsch still has two years left on his FCA deal. The former Bayern and Heidenheim professional's estimated market worth has declined to €4 million from a peak of €10 million in November of 2022.
