Bayern Munich are reportedly close to extending Manuel Neuer's contract, which expires at the end of the season.

According to Kicker, only minor details remain to be resolved in the contract talks between the player and the club, with an announcement of a one-year extension until 2026 expected before the end of the year.

Neuer, 38, has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the world since joining Bayern from Schalke 04 in 2011.

However, the veteran's inconsistent performances this season have sparked debate over how long he should remain Bayern's first-choice goalkeeper.

Neuer was recently sent off in the first half of Bayern's 1-0 DFB-Pokal defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. He then missed Saturday's 4-2 win over Heidenheim with a rib problem.
