Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Here are our Bayern Munich player ratings from the game:

Bayern Munich starting XI player ratings vs. Real Madrid:

GK: Manuel Neuer - 9/10

Had some shaky distribution in the first half, but produced a number of truly excellent saves throughout. Also reacted well to come off his line and force Vinícius Júnior into shooting wide in a one-on-one. World-class performance from the 40-year-old veteran.

RB: Josip Stanisic - 5/10

Faced a difficult task against Vinícius, who caused him problems at times. Still, a fairly solid outing from the Croatian, who won three of his six duels and was reliable in possession.

CB: Jonathan Tah - 5/10

A solid, but unspectacular performance. Positioned himself well overall, but lost a number of duels. Booked in the second half for a foul on Kylian Mbappé.

CB: Dayot Upamecano - 4/10

Should have scored early on. Used his pace well at times to deal with the threat of Mbappé and Vinícius in behind, and made a few important interventions. However, he made a major error that allowed Vinícius through on goal and lost track of Mbappé at the back post as the Frenchman converted from a low cross.

LB: Konrad Laimer - 5/10

Played with his usual aggression and delivered a fairly solid display, though he occasionally struggled with the pace of Real Madrid’s attackers and offered limited impact going forward.

CDM: Joshua Kimmich - 6/10

Helped Bayern maintain control in possession with his passing accuracy. Also strong in the duels, but his set-piece delivery left room for improvement.

CDM: Aleksandar Pavlovic - 6/10

Made a shaky start with a couple of turnovers but grew into the game. Won the ball to initiate the move that led to Bayern’s second goal and showed composure when playing out under pressure.

RW: Michael Olise - 9/10

Bayern’s creative engine. Constantly threatened with his dribbling and proved extremely difficult for the Real Madrid defence to contain. Provided the assist for Harry Kane’s goal.

CAM: Serge Gnabry - 7/10

Not everything came off, but he was lively from the outset. Should have scored after intercepting a pass right in front of Andriy Lunin on 28 minutes. Played a superb through ball for Luis Díaz’s goal. Less influential after the break and was replaced by Jamal Musiala in the 69th minute.

LW: Luis Diaz - 6/10

Had a quiet first half with little going his way, but came to life just before the break, finishing clinically after a well-timed run in behind to give Bayern the lead. Struggled to make an impact in the second half, picking up a yellow card and missing the chance to find Olise on a dangerous counter late in the game.

ST: Harry Kane - 7/10

Showed great awareness early on with a square pass to Upamecano in front of goal, but was otherwise fairly quiet in the first half. Struck early in the second half with a composed finish from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.

Substitutes:

Alphonso Davies (for Konrad Laimer, '68) - 5/10

Jamal Musiala (for Serge Gnabry, '68) - 4/10

Tom Bischof (for Luis Diaz, '90+3) - N/A

Leon Goretzka (for Aleksandar Pavlovic, '90+3) - N/A
