Besiktas vs. Eintracht Frankfurt preview: Team news and predicted lineups
Hugo Ekitike | Eintracht Frankfurt |
Dino Toppmöller's in-form Eintracht Frankfurt side travel to Turkey to take on Besiktas in the Europa League on Thursday.
Die Adler have made a strong start to the season and moved up to second in the Bundesliga with a 4-2 win over Holstein Kiel at the weekend to extend their unbeaten run to five games.
However, Eintracht's opening Europa League game ended in disappointment as they let a 3-1 lead slip away to draw 3-3 with Viktoria Plzen after the Czech champions scored two late goals.
Like Frankfurt, Besiktas have made a strong start to their domestic campaign, sitting third in the Turkish Super Lig with 16 points after six games. But their European campaign could hardly have got off to a worse start as they were thrashed 4-0 by Ajax.
Going into Thursday's game, the Turkish side can take confidence from their strong record on home soil, where they are unbeaten in their last 10 competitive matches.
On the injury front, Besiktas remain without Necip Uysal, who is sidelined with a knee injury.
Oscar Højlund, Kevin Trapp and Mehdi Loune are definitely out for Eintracht, but the German side are set to welcome back Hugo Ekitike from a foot injury after he missed the game against Holstein Kiel. The Frenchman should be fit enough to start after returning to training on Wednesday.
Update (October 2, 17:58 CET): Tuta will also miss the game due to the impending birth of his child.
