With Matchday 3 of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season in the books, Bulinews Editor-in-Chief Rune Gjerulff has selected his Team of the Week.

Goalkeeper:

Karl Hein, Werder Bremen

Played a key role in helping Werder secure a point in Köln, making a total of five saves throughout the game.

 

Defenders:

Timo Becker, Schalke 04

Incredibly solid on the right side of Schalke's three-man back line, Becker won nine duels, completed three tackles and made 15 clearances.

 

Willi Orban, RB Leipzig

Put in a very solid performance at the back as RB Leipzig kept a clean sheet in their 5-0 win over HSV. Orban completed 92 percent of his passes and capped off his display with a goal.

 

Mathias Ginter, Freiburg

Ginter was rock solid at the back, winning eight duels, while also providing two assists in Freiburg's emphatic 5-0 victory over Gladbach.

 

Jordy Makengo, Freiburg

Another impressive performer at the back, Makengo balanced his defensive responsibilities well with his contributions going forward, providing an assist in Freiburg's emphatic victory.
 

Midfielders:

Felix Nmecha, Borussia Dortmund

Scored two fantastic goals in Borussia Dortmund's 3-0 victory over Paderborn, including a stunning scissor kick.

 

Yannick Engelhardt, Freiburg

Not usually known for his goalscoring, Engelhardt found the net twice in Freiburg's crushing win over Gladbach. He also completed 92 percent of his passes and won eight duels in a standout performance from the midfielder.

 

Antonio Nusa, RB Leipzig

The star of the show in RB Leipzig's 5-0 victory over HSV, Nusa scored one goal and provided two assists.

 

Can Uzun, Eintracht Frankfurt

Uzun was a key performer in Eintracht Frankfurt's impressive 3-1 win over Mainz, scoring twice while also completing two dribbles and making two key passes.
 

Strikers:

Igor Matanovic, Freiburg

The powerful forward played a vital role in Freiburg's 5-0 win over Gladbach, scoring twice.

 

Michael Gregoritsch, Augsburg

Scored a quick-fire brace early in the second half of Augsburg's 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen to help his side secure a point.
