Sebastian Hoeneß forms a new center-back pairing from the weekend’s defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach. Ameen Al-Dakhil is out with a thigh injury, while Anthony Rouault left the club on the deadline day. Up front, Deniz Undav partners former Augsburg striker Ermedin Demirović as Nick Woltemade misses the tie due to infection.

Jess Thorup makes three changes from the side that drew with St. Pauli on Saturday. Nediljko Labrović will make his first 2025 appearance between the sticks. Keven Schlotterbeck and Phillip Tietz are also back in the starting lineup. Mert Kömür will be hoping to make an impact from the bench as he did on the weekend.

Confirmed VfB Stuttgart vs. FC Augsburg lineups:

Stuttgart: Nübel - Hendriks, Stergiou, Chabot, Mittelstädt - Karazor, Stiller, Führich, Bruun Larsen - Undav, Demirović

Augsburg: Labrović - Matsima, Gouweleeuw, Schlotterbeck - Wolf, Onyeka, Jakić, Giannoulis - Rexhbeçaj, Claude-Maurice - Tietz
