Daniel Thioune believes Niclas Füllkrug's equaliser in Werder Bremen's 1-1 draw with FC Köln was a perfect example of the natural instincts of a striker.

The experienced marksman reacted first after Amos Pieper's header dropped inside the area, before he fired home to cancel out Linton Maina's opening goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Bremen boss Thioune was adament in saying: “That wasn't a coincidence.

"After Amos Pieper's header and the rebound, only one player went towards the ball, and that was Niclas Füllkrug.

“I would say that's the striker's instinct. It's the type of quality that he possesses.”

Thioune also felt that a draw was fair, with Die Grün-Weißen improving massively in the second period.

“I think both teams scored during their best spell,” he added, after Bremen finally made their pressure count in the 69th minute.

"When we were in the phase where I thought we were controlling the game a little, we deservedly equalised.

“When you look at the chances on both sides, I would say the draw was justified.”
