The Danish Football Association has released an update on Christian Eriksen after the VfL Wolfsburg midfielder suddenly collapsed during Denmark’s friendly against Ukraine on Sunday.

After briefly losing consciousness, Eriksen got back on his feet and walked to the ambulance for further examinations at hospital.

Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen said on Monday morning that the 34-year-old is doing well and is expected to go home soon.

“I spoke with Christian this morning, and he is doing well. He is with his family and in good spirits. The expectation is that he will be discharged soon and can return home,” he said.

Eriksen’s sudden collapse came as a shock to both teammates and staff.

“We are taking good care of the players and staff and remain in regular contact with them,” Boesen added.
