DFL sets dates for Supercup, schedule release, and close of transfer window

The German league body responsible for administering the country's top two professional footballing flights released three scheduling decisions early Thursday evening. A date for the 2024 DFL Supercup has been set.

A probable date for the release of the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga 2024/25 schedules has also been conveyed. Finally, the date and time of the close of the summer transfer window in Germany was confirmed.

League champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen will face VfB Stuttgart in the 2024 German Supercup on Saturday, August 17th at 8:30 p.m. German football's "double crown" winners and the 2023/24 German Bundesliga second-place finishers have - as a result - had their 2024/25 opening round DFB-Pokal fixtures rescheduled. Leverkusen-Carl-Zeiss-Jena and Stuttgart-Preußen Münster will take place on August 27th and 28th.

The Supercup shall again take place on the "soft-opening" weekend during which the rest of the DFB-Pokal fixtures take place. The 2024/25 Bundesliga will kick off on August 23rd, three weeks after the start of the 2. Bundesliga on August 2nd. The DFL noted on Thursday that final first and second division schedules will likely be released on Thursday, July 4th.

The scheduling of the Supercup and the date for the release of the two top flight schedules constituted two of the three DFL announcements coming on Thursday evening. The German league body responsible for administering the country's top two footballing flights also confirmed that the summer transfer window will officially close on August 30th at 8:00 p.m. in the Bundesrepublik.
