South Korea international Hee-chan Hwang is on the verge of joining Schalke 04 from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sky Sports understands the deal will be on an initial loan with a buy option.

The two clubs reached full agreements as the 30-year-old striker expected to arrive on Wednesday to complete the deal. Hwang hasn’t featured for Wolves since last season’s final matchday in the Premier League.

The versatile attacker is no stranger to the Bundesliga as he scored three goals in 29 appearances for RB Leipzig before his move to England on an initial loan deal five years ago. He scored 17 goals in 82 games for the South Korea national team.

Schalke started the new Bundesliga season with a 3-0 defeat to Augsburg. The newcomers will entertain FC Bayern on Saturday in the second Topspiel of the season.
