Sport Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund are set to offer club advisor Matthias Sammer a contract extension in the coming days.

However, the 57-year-old will see his influence reduced if he accepts the new deal.

According to the report, Sammer will no longer have a say in transfer matters and will instead focus fully on advising managing director for sport Lars Ricken on strategic issues.

Sammer ran into trouble with the club hierarchy after criticizing the team while working as a pundit for Amazon Prime earlier in the season.

As a result, he ended his punditry duties for Dortmund’s Champions League matches prematurely.
