Sebastien Haller will spend the rest of the 2024/25 season on loan at Spanish side CD Leganes, Borussia Dortmund announced late on Friday.

Shortly after joining Borussia Dortmund from Ajax in the summer of 2022, Haller was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

After two surgeries and various rounds of chemotherapy, Haller returned to full training in early January 2023, and to date has scored 12 goals in 41 appearances for the club.

"The story that connects us with Sebastien was, is and will always be special. Sébastien's cancer was a deep cut in his life and that of his family and friends. The entire BVB family was at his side during this difficult time. Personally, I will never forget how lucky I was to have him back in our midst in good health," said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.

“Now it's important for Sebastien to play regularly again and feel the joy of celebrating goals as often as possible. He really wants to make the most of the opportunity he now has in La Liga - and we wish him every success.”
