Last summer, Bayer Leverkusen paid a reported €32 million to sign Eliesse Ben Seghir from AS Monaco, but the move has yet to pay dividends.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has made just 13 appearances across all competitions for Die Werkself without registering a goal or an assist, and a winter transfer could now be on the cards.

According to Sky Germany, talks are underway over a potential loan move that would see Ben Seghir return to Monaco until the end of the season in the hope that he can rediscover his form at his former club.

However, with the youngster currently sidelined due to an ankle injury, the transfer’s completion will also depend on his fitness.

Ben Seghir scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 85 matches for Monaco before moving to Leverkusen.
